Deer skin dilemma

Shot a nice Sika doe last season. I saved the skin to tan as it was nice and furry. My buddy the ranch owner said he knew someone to tan it for $75. That has not happened. The hide is still in the deep freeze. I must take matters into my own hands now. How long will a raw hide last in a freezer? I left it with him because the going rate around here seems to be between $150 and $200 to tan a deer skin. I am NOT going to do it myself (lack of time and facilities ). Anybody have a suggestion on economical tanning in the central Texas area- or is there some place I can ship the hide? What kind of costs and processing time am I looking at?

I'm going to pick up my Sika hide from Don Wade at North Texas Outfitters tomorrow, in fact. They charged $150; I'm not sure who they use for the hides or I'd give you the direct reference...

They're in Chico, just north of Bridgeport.
