I bought some 125 grain Speer Gold Dots from Rocky Mountain Reloading and many of the bullets have what look like mini stainless steel flying saucers stuck inside the hollow points.

What do you think these are? And do you think Speer made a bad batch? Or maybe RMR sold me a bunch of rejected bullets from the factory?

Many of the other bullets look very inconsistent as well. The bullet on the far right is shorter than the rest. Some have weird looking cones on them and others have excess copper on the sides of the jacket. They don't seem very premium to me.

Sounds like a case area 51 flash backs to me.
On a more serious note, I bought two different boxes of 125's and noticed they looked completely different from one another. I honestly thought Speer had made some sort of modification because the two boxes were so different, same part # though.

I would talk to Jake if you are not happy with what you got or you just have questions. I have met Jake several times and know that he is first rate. Give him a call or shoot him an email or a PM. I am 100% confidant that he will take care of you.

Those almost look like the new style shot used in Federals new Prairie Storm shotgun shells.

Buck, looks like someone dumped some of that shot in the box of Gold Dot bullets and got caught in the hollow point holes! :D

The punch that formed the hollow point got clogged, and the little flying saucers are lead pieces the punch should have removed. They are factory seconds or rejects that got into the batch you bought.

Were they very cheap? If not I would ask for a refund, if they were discounted and sold as seconds clean them up and load them for plinking ammo.
