Hi- this is my first post after a year or so of lurking. I have a newer model detective special and it points very high for me. I have very large hands and I assume that's part of the problem. It has the Pachmayr grips on it now. I'm assuming I need something with more thickness covering the top of the frame, where my thumb / first finger joint meets the gun. The only thing I've seen that looks like it might work is the Hogue grip. I don't have a well stocked gun shop near me, so I need some advice on what to order that might work. Any opinions on the Hogue grip or anything else that might work?
Thanks, Steve

I love the Pachmayr grips for the Colt. Doc 540 has shown a post-71 with Compac CD-S grips. You can also get Gripper CD-G for that model, they are larger. For the pre-71 gun you can get the Presentation CD-S, larger than the Gripper. Website is www.pachmayr.com

Yes, mine looks just like doc540s first pic, except mine doesn't have the bobbed hammer. Wrapping with the grip tape might work. Hadn't considered that.
I figured there must be grips out there that would be shaped differently.
Thanks, Steve
