First off, I wasn't sure if this belonged here or in Rallying Point. I apologize if my thread is misplaced.

Anyone know of any ranges in the Detroit area that allow firing of 7.62NATO self-loading rifles? I've rung up a few places, but I haven't really been able to find much. Indoor range is probably fine. Anyone knows anything, let me know! Thanks.

There are DNR ranges at Bald Mountain State Park in Lake Orion and Pontiac Lake State Park in Waterford. Only problem is they don't allow rapid fire, and only 6 rounds in the magazine at a time.

Island Lake is just off I-96 by Kent Lake rd...they have 25, 50, and 100 yrd ranges...Its not run by DNR anymore, but still basically the same as it used to be (except $7 now)

It's a decent range though...I hear MultiLakes (waterford I believe) has a 200 yrd range, but open to the public for only limited hours...I've never been there myself...just what i hear

"Isn't the entire city of Detroit a rifle range these days?"

Haha, I guess. I'm white though, if I discharged a firearm on city premises, you can rest assured that every cop within a mile would pounce me and charge me with a hate crime or something.

Believe it or not, thats an improvement. It used to be single-shot only.

I got an invite to the Detroit Sportsmans Congress back in my MI days and the place is top notch in my book. Just so you know this was less than a year ago.
