I went to range after cleaning rifle barrel wiped all oil of internals, tightened forend down tight on 2 -O rings.
shot at 50 yds 3 shot groups

1- 16.5 g 2400,265 FTX-- 1.2 inch group

2- 16.8g 2400, 265 FTX--1.2 in group

3-17.1 g 2400, 265 g FTX 1.0 inch group

4 at 100yds 16.5 g 2400, 265 g FTX 3.5 inch group low.

I am much happier with these reloads and groups after my ordeal with this little devil rifle. I plan to try some 17.1g
of 2400 soon at 100yds. the challenge continues!

Stay tuned,

Bull

i don't know how to get a photo on computer yet. it is a new black plastic stock, 22inch?barrel is microgroove and is deep blue and frame is black finished, and forend H&R Handi rifle with a 3x9 bone collector bushnell scope.

Gradually bump it up four more full grains and let 2400 come in to its own and I think your accuracy will appreciate it. You are at and below the minimal limits of the powder.

velocities are listed in Lymans 49th for a 265 jacketed bullet. I have tried more 2400 at 17.5 and a max of 18.3 and the groups expanded horrribly, i backed off and eased up by 0.3grain increments to get the 1inch group at 50 yds with 17.1g 2400. i think this is my sweet spot. evidently the oversize bore in this 44 mag does not like the faster rounds??

i have some oversize cast bullets ordered when they come in ,i will see if i can do better than this 17.1 g load of 2400.

Stayed tuned for a Devil rifle range report update.

I may have to get a 44MAG barrel myself and see if the thing has accuracy problems for me. I mostly have rifle barrels and a S&W 500 MAG. It looks like you are getting down to a reasonable accuracy for this one. I feel a lot of the fun is the "getting there" when reloading and that final "WOW this is lots better than any factory crap ever was".:D
For the record I have several firearms that have NEVER seen a factory loaded round and never will as long as I own them.
