To those who are looking to get into blackpowder shooting and don't have any bias against modern inlines.... Dicks sporting goods in the Spotsylvania Mall has 4 or 5 cva optima elites on clearance for 329. These are the thumbhole gripped ones with black actions, not the stainless. You have to send off for the centerfire barrel. If I remember right, it comes in 45-70 gov, .30-06 spr, .308 win, 20 GA, 7mm-08, .270 win, .243 win, .223 rem, .222 rem. You get your choice when ordering. My barrel took about 1-2 weeks to show up in the mail.
Most places that allow shotguns allow muzzle loaders even if they don't allow centerfire rifles, so this may be a way to extend your hunting distance past 100y. The optima elite (ML not centerfire barrels)will be replacing my shotgun, even though I don't shoot past 50 Y because I am more accurate with it.
I have no affiliation with DSG, but for what is normally a 500 dollar gun round here it is a good deal. It does weigh a ton when you hold it, but it is balanced well.
EDIT - Could also be a good starter for kids if you get the .243. Barrels are drilled and taped, but have no scope or sights on them.
