I have a older Glock 30 with a bad trigger bar. Called Glock. Glock would not send me the part claiming "firing control parts are only sent to Glock armorers". Said I could ship it in. It's a $15 part. Annoying, but fair enough. Bought the part myself. Problem solved.

I have an "MPHxxx" Glock 26 and brass hit me in the face. Swapped part from my earlier Glock 17 and problem stopped. Called Glock. Glock would not send me the part claiming "parts are only sent to Glock armorers". Annoying, period. Bought the part myself. Problem solved.

Glock has sent me parts in the past (pre-2006):
- mag springs and followers to solve issue w/ G23 w/ mounted light (did not resolve)
- fire control "upgrade" kit for old/original Glock 19 (guns would slam fire)

Non-Glock Armorers: Did Glock send you parts to fix broken/defective Glocks?

(Firing control: trigger bar, firing pin, firing pin plunger, ejector housing, connector, etc.)

I'm sure some of it is lawyers get involved. The same goes for all sorts of other products besides guns. If they send you a part in the mail it's basically them saying it's ok to do that service yourself. If you end up injuring yourself/someone else/destroying property later on I could see a lawyer using that against them in court.

Not to mention that modified and incorrectly installed parts can give a company a bad name if things don't work out. How many guys bash a gun company on the internet but they have a half dozen aftermarket parts or an incorrectly installed part, and are shooting their uncle's best friends brothers reloads out of it? (example: how many guys have put an AR hammer spring in backwards?).

If I have a car under warranty and I need a new alternator, the manufacturer sure as heck isn't going to send one to me in the mail. If you just send out random parts to anyone who calls....who's saying they aren't ending up on fleabay?

People always expect that of Glock because they are easy to work on and the parts are cheap. Yeah, it's a pain...but that's the way it goes with lots of things. If I owned a company I would want rigid quality control in my manufacturing and also in my repair service.

I had a concern over a striker in my G17, so I called them. They said that they would send the parts to a Glock armorer in my area and they would install them. I told them that my Dept. Has several armorers to just send the part to me. The sent the parts to me and I put them in. It isnt rocket science.

They did ask me if I wanted to send my pistol in. I told them no, that I couldn't wait a month to get my pistol back.

I have, in the past, just ordered parts from Lone Wolf instead of calling Glock CS.
