Ever get the feeling you're not in Kansas, Toto?

The local SF Bay area station, KTVU, has been running news on the proposed .50 cal ban in Contra Costa. It actually appears rather balanced or unbiased.

As it that is not enough to make me wonder whether the world tipped overnight I find this in the SF Chronicle.

Huh?? I musta missed something here. That sounds like a typical "newsworthy" event by SF Comical standards.

The news article is straight reporting of a firearm as an aid to a citizen and actually has the suspects and victims in the correct slots. Note the number of articles that call the dead perp the "victim" of the killing.

I do have to allow as how the Chron DOES have some conservative editorials and does lean toward a balance.

I see your point now. I haven't read the Comical in decades, and took the story as another comic plug for their general reporting standards, rather than reading the story for the focus of its' politics.

Another local paper identified the apartment resident as a 20-year-old college student.

Other than THIS paper having identified the broke-dick perp as the 'victim' noted that the police hadn't yet determined whether the homeowner was licensed (?) to have the pistol with which he defended himself and his home.

Neither paper provided much of a description of the other two attackers, or made any other obvious attempts to enlist help from the general citizenry in an attempt to identify or find them.

It is perhaps significant that there is NO suggestion that the local police have taken steps to apprehend the other two assailants.

Apparently, the outrage that the guy who was attacked had the temerity to defend himself with a firearm is so great that all police and public resources are being invested in an effort to turn the real victim into the 'bad guy'.

Not surprising. They know who he is, they know where he lives. The local police can turn the case over to the DA for prosecution of the real victim and "Move On".

Not to defend the left, but...

The article mentions that the apartment dweller is "a 20 year old college student". They may go after him for possession of a handgun, since he is under 21. I don't know if underage possession is a crime in the PRK. I know purchase is. Who knows, he could be in violation of any number of local ordinances.

I'm sure he'd have a much easier time of it if he were dead now.
