Did your dove bag limit go up this year?

Our daily bag limit for dove went from 10 dove with no more than 6 white wings to 15 with no more than 10 white wings in the aggregate. I was so excited I had to go out and buy a new shotgun to replace my ol' Wingmaster.
I think it has been a long time coming since this place is absolutely flooded with doves. The AZGFD just changed our early hunt from 30 prior to sunrise until noon to an all day hunt a few years ago. That too was a blessing. I can't wait to get out there after work, watch the sun set over the Sonoran Desert and blast 15 doves a day!

Not that I am aware of on Morning Doves. Collared doves are no limit though.
Collared doves are open year around here with no limit as well. Problem is, those fat birds don't wander out into the hunt-able areas very often.
I've never recalled a 15 mourning dove limit in my 30 years of hunting but from what I understand, that used to be the old limit here in Az. It's nice to see numbers go up instead of down when it comes to wildlife.

I'm glad you posted this because it made me look at Florida's dove regs. The limit stays the same at 15/day but the poss. limit is now 45 AND the opening day moves forward a week so it starts the 27th of Sept.

It's usually not too hard to get a 15 bird limit on opening day. After that it gets progressively more difficult as the numbers of available doves drop and the acrobatics increase. A 20 ga. with 7 1/2 shot is the tonic I use.

And I'm glad you posted this.
It's good practice to review your regs every year, even if you don't think they have changed. Good luck..

Heck if I get just one in the bag, my limit has gone up from last year....

Not that they aren't there to get, just I haven't gotten them. :D

Many years ago though I did my fair share. It is great as mentioned they are loosening up on the limits though. It means they are doing well for a change.

My grandsons and daughter are now interested in doves so I might have to drag out the old scatter gun and see if I can still do my thing. From my early teens through my early thirties I was a pure dove hunting terror. Times change and you have to live life though, and sometimes it gets in the way of your favorite pastimes.

Like the old saying goes, I might not be as good as I once was, but maybe I as good once as I ever was. :D

Good luck to you all in your hunts.

Bought a new shotgun to replace the old Wingmaster? Why? That old Wingmaster will do you right for as long as you may live.

Ya, I remember the 15 bag limit years ago. I'm glad to see it coming back. We are infested with dove every year, year around for that matter. I have several nice little spots, all within 10 minutes from the house, we always limit out, year after year, so much fun.

I want to start into some waterfowl this year and I needed something that can shoot steel. I'll never part with the ol'wingmaster, it has way too much mojo. Besides, I'm 42 and the Stoeger M3000 is my first autoloader. Even though I'm fast and accurate with the pump, I just felt it was time for an auto. And yes, I went for a budget gun. I'll pass this one to my oldest son and pass his 20 ga. 870 to my youngest when I get the Benelli I really want.
Good luck with your dove hunt..

We can kill 15. I thought it was 12, but I haven't dove hunted in a long time.

What struck me when I looked it up is that we can kill 15 geese. Amazing how things have changed since I was a kid.

15 with no more than 2 white tips.

My brother and I used to be very active skeet shooters and we could regularly limit out with 2 boxes or less. Had a friend that was a great rifle shot but could burn up a case of shotgun shells getting 2 birds.

Ours is up to 15 mourning/white-wing doves in aggregate. It was 10 last year. Eurasian collared doves are no-season/no-limit.

As long as I could remember, limit was 12 Mourning Doves in Virginia...I believe they increased it a few years ago. I know it is 15 this year.

I don't go as much, but I am not sure I have shot 15 all together in the last 6 years....

My dad goes every chance he gets, and he said last year was abysmal.

In Kansas it is and always has been a limit of 15. We now have collared and ring neck doves with no limit. I always take 2 or 3 extra shells in case I miss one:), But seriously folks.....I love dove shooting and this year I'll be carrying my newly acquired, beautifully restored Remington Model 17 20gauge. It came with a full choke barrel so we'll see how I do.

Sniper66, shoot cheap shells and your patterns will be open enough. When I shot more clays my dove/shell ratio was pretty good but we'll see how I do Monday. Biggest thing is stay low til they're close and light em up. Nothing is better than a grill full of dove-ka-bobs
