Different bullet weight -same FPS?

MAVRACR- I had no intention of being "snarky." I tried to agree with you that I did not have the extensive equipment required to establish pressure, powder burn rates and pressure curves. Sorry.
Try autocomp, true-blue, longshot, hs-6, or wsf, go to the above posted hodgdon link and click 9mm luger, then 124, use data for the xtp or rmr bullets and you should see different results.

This!!! I'm actually about to work up some 9mm loads with HS6 myself. I'm also going to work up some loads with 231 also but anything I do with 231 is basically for plinking.
I was considering trying Autocomp in 38/357 but from what I can tell it doesn't really do anything that HS6 doesn't already do for me.

You don't need "extensive equipment" to understand how burn rates and pressure curves work.
It just requires a little reading/research and a willingness to learn.

The 124 grain loads had more pressure than the 115 grain rounds. It's kind of neat the light 115 grain load had the same FPS as a max 124 grain load, but it's just a coincidence.

FWIW SAAMI has max pressures. Max velocity is dependent upon many variables. Max pressure is one of the more important variables, but not the only one

In .357 I either run bullseye (usually .38 brass, but nothing against it in .357) or 2400, got some 300 mp been tempted by. 4227 has been whispering to me too.

Yeah I wouldn't mind trying some 2400 myself, I want to get a pound and work up a woods load with it. Although right now with the talk of possible shortages I'm trying to stick to powders that I can use in multiple calibers, HS6 is great in that regard. Im able to use it in 38 357 and 9mm so im definitely adding another lb or two to my stockpile.

I used to try to do that, but I wound up going a different way after my 2nd shortage, gun a gets powder x(2-8lbs stocked) gun b gets powder y (2-8), gun c gets powder z (2-8) then if powder x can't be found we can still shoot guns b&c. Shared components means burning through your supply 2-3x faster no matter WHAT you take to the range today.

Yeah I guess that is a good point. I do plan on diversifying and using specific powders for different cartridges, I'm just trying to get a good stockpile going and once I have enough on hand then I'll branch out. I really like 231 in 38 special so that will probably be a mainstay in my line up. Once I find a good powder for 357 and 9mm HS6 will probably be a backup powder for multi use. There are better powders for both calibers, I'm thinking about BE86 or Power Pistol for my 9mm loads and 2400 or possibly Win 296 for 357. I might keep extra 231 on hand for 9mm range loads since that's really the only thing 231 is good for in 9mm.
