Just got my new Dillon 550B set up yesterday and am enjoying it. Can anyone suggest a temporary workaround for flipping primers over. I am thinking of getting a RF100 Primer filler soon so I don't want to spend the extra cash on primer flip tray or extra tubes.

I use the bottom half of a small box from rifle bullets. That's all I have used to flip primers for the past 10 years. One has to develop the right amount of "jiggle" to flip ca. 10 to 20 primers at a time. I load ca. 12,000 rounds per year and this sytem has worked for me.

yeah, I used the jiggle concept with the primers on my Lee Classtic Turret press. You just put them in the dispenser, snap the lid on a sake it a few times.

You can buy a RCBS flip tray at Walmart for 4 or 5 bucks.

Now you know that green one wont work with a Blue press :D
Dang OP my 1050 came with a RF100 and it's still in the box under the bench, your going to make me feel like I should use it

Go buy the plastic flip tray, but take an empty box of primers with you. You want a tray (round or square) that is large enough to fit the entire box into. There are some small, round flip trays available that do not catch the 4 or 5 primers from the corners of the box. Those primers you'll end up chasing all over the floor.

Spend the extra 50 cents on a tray that catches ALL 100 primers.

If you have a hand priming tool try using that. I use my Lee tool just to flip primers and it works fine.

The Lee one that comes with the LCT works great at getting all the primers anvil side up. I don't know if that is the right direction for the Dillon though.

If your primer box is too big just set the flipper down on the table and load it through a funnel. Works fine that way and you don't have to chase primers bouncing around the room.

I like the RCBS flipper. I have a Dillon flipper too, but that big piece of cast iron hasn't been off the closet shelf in at least a decade.

This will show how so much about equipment is personal preference. I, too, have both the Dillon and RCBS. The RCBS was my first and I used it for a while but I haven't used it in a long time. I can, for whatever reason, use the Dillon more efficiently.
