On an XD, what should be used to clean the stock factory sights if there is discoloration? After applying a light coat of CLP to the outside of the slide for the first time, I noticed one of the rear sights has become yellowed. Was this because of the CLP?

What's the best way to clean it without damaging the white paint? Can I re-paint the sight's dots if I can't get it clean? Thanks in advance. :)

CLP should not discolor the sight paint, but I suppose it might.

I clean sights with a toothbrush and Hoppes #9 and have never noticed a problem.

Old sight paint can usually be removed with fingernail polish remover or acetone solvent on a Q-Tip.
But some companies use epoxy paint which is pretty much impervious to anything.

Repaint with Testers Model Enamel from the hobby shop.
White Appliance touch-up paint from the hardware store is also very durable.
