A few weeks ago we were shooting the old Ruger 10/22 out back when it started to misfeed or fail to feed. After messing around with it for a few seconds we could see that the rotary magazine was not feeding properly, it was getting stuck.

After we got home I took the time to photograph the disassembly, cleaning, and assembly procedure for anyone interested in doing so. It's really quite easy.

Disassembly and assembly of the Ruger 10/22 Rotary Magazine.

That should be a help to anyone a little worried of disassembling their magazines.

Nice job!

There are a lot of 10/22 mags in junk collections that have been apart and not had the spring properly pre-tensioned when put back together, I betcha.

That's a nicely done tutorial:)
I found a 10/22 magazine this weekend while out with my dogs in the desert. It needed dis-assembly and a good cleaning, but works fine now. I bet rcmodel is right about the ones in people's junk collection:eek:

Ive found that with my mags no dissassembly is needed. Just a good cleaning with remington non toxic bore cleaner in the green label.

Put a table spoon in the mag, put it into a ceramic cup you dont like that is barely larger in diameter then the cup, pour hot tap water into the mag till the foam just covers the top of the fee lips.

90% of the time, its just powder fouling the follower.

There is a newer thread posted today about misfeeds and jamming of the 10/22. I'm going back and suggest he read this thread. LOL :)

Good tutorial, had an old (original) mag that has been sitting around for a couple years. I figured the spring had lost its tension or possibly broken. Thanks for giving me the initiative to crack it open and fix-er-up.
