I need a bullet puller and can't find one locally, nor did I want to wait to order one online. So, I found a video on YouTube that explained how to build one. I have $10.45 in schedule 80 parts for this one...and it works.

The Parts:

The foam handle plug keeps the gun powder from running down the handle. (Cut from a pool noodle.)

The Tee Shoulder, where the shell holder rests, during impact.

The shell holder in place:

I glued a 1/8" thick rubber pad on the nose of the pvc cap, just to prevent it from cracking from whacking it on the concrete floor.

The nipple plug needed to be sanded or filed or however you prefer to get it to fit inside the tee, without sticking in the tee after impact.

I had to used a bungie cord to keep the nipple plug in place...it will bounce out after a hit on the floor.

I cut another piece/plug of foam and pushed it all the way into the cap or nose of the bullet puller. This will provide padding and keep the polycarbonate tips from deforming when they are removed from the casing.

nice lowes bullet puller!

Devils advocate here

Midway has several impact pullers available and ready to ship, 3-4 days from $12+ shipping
the bungee cord seems like it would be a PIA when pulling several rounds at a time
the rubber on the head of your puller also softens the impact pulling force to the bullet, itll take twice the whacks to pull a bullet with a buffered head, PVC, ABS and CPVC is pretty tough stuff, its very very hard to crack a fitting.

Awesome project! Is it all 1/2" PVC parts or what size is it? I have a bullet puller but would certainly be up for making a spare or giving one to a reloading friend.

Centurian22,
It's 1/2" schedule 80, but you might save some money by using schedule 40. I was thinking that the sch. 80 would be tougher and last longer.

Reefinmike,
I looked at Midway's website, priced bullet pullers and they shipping wait. The wait was what made me look into building, instead of buying, because I needed to get some reloads put together. It's been raining here and as soon as the weather breaks, I'm going to the range to sight in my rifle and go hunting. :)

There's a serious coyote problem, here. The problem is, that they exist. I just installed a new Weaver 4x16 scope and just come from the gunsmith's house, from him installing a new trigger. I have some 85gr. Nosler BT bullets that are just waiting to tear a coyote in half, from my .25-06. A buddy of mine said he seen a coyote carrying a fawn in its' mouth, just 5 miles from his house.
