As a continuation of http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=545056

I made some simple improvements to eliminate any primers flipping over while filling the tubes.

1.) Sliced off the protrusion from the top even with the surrounding surface. (see pic)
Part removed sitting on the cover in the pic.
2.) Used a piece of a clear plastic soda bottle to total enclose the open area, when the cover is in place.
The blue tape holds the cover in place.
3.) Added 2 rubber bands to hold the primer tube in place.

That roll of duct tape is a stand for the tray, used when doing the shake/flip, before putting on the cover, and inserting the primer tube.

If you don't have trays to modify, Lee sells them separately as replacement parts.
A tray and cover costs less than $10 and you only need 1 cover to fit either the small or large primer tray.

Because these trays are cheap, some have permanently attached a tray to every tube.
I did not because the tray could interfere with stuff on my press and would be something else to monitor during loading.
I have the new square trays on order and will update if different mods are needed.

I do testing with spent primers, as some will end up on the floor, and jams are usually caused by these deformed spent primers.
Also, a little dry silicon spray helps things run smoothly.

Using this DIY tube feeder is much faster and eliminates primer stabbing to load tubes.

Enjoy...

Nice, I'm sure those will work with the proper power source.

I'm electronicly challenged and use a Sonicare toothbrush, while some use a cheap, vibrating, engraver pencil.

I mentioned something similar to Lee and their response was they consider primer tubes to be unsafe, so won't market such a tool.
My problem doing something similar is that I have a problem getting the primer to make that last small step to the tube. They like to hang-up and/or flip over.

Open the pic and zoom in on the top part.
With the height reduced and the additional cover it is impossible for the primers to flip over.
Click the link to the other thread and see how I added a shim to line up the tube to the hole in the tray.
If you have the slit tubes, the end needs to be flared to freely accept the primer and a chamfer on the tube ID will help the free flow of primers into the tube.

Lee's position on primer tubes is well known....please don't tell Lee what we're doing here with their trays:uhoh:

Remember, I use spent/used primers during development as some will end up on the floor:eek:.

Thanks for reading/posting to this thread and be sure to post any problems or fixes that come up.
