I carry my M&P 340Ct in a pocket holster when I nees to make a quick run to store & don't have my daily carry piece already on.

I started carrying a 36 as both my backup and off duty gun back in 1981. Still have it. At the academy we were taught to use speed strips with them and do reloads two at a time. Over the next 30 years that gun was always there. Still carry it sometimes these days in retirement. It is dead reliable, I have shot it so much that I am able to know where my bullet is going, I know that I can hit with it at 25 yards and also know that if I have to use the thing, it is going to be inside 10 yards. Not worried at all about defending myself with it . Now I will say this, if you are new to self defense and cannot make the commitment to become very good with a j frame, it is not a gun friendly to you.

It is surprising too me just how different small snubbies can be when it comes to ease of use. For my J frames the steel versions are pretty manageable with standard 38 Special loads and really nice with wad cutters. The 642 Airweight was a whole different breed, truly painful to shoot even with light loads. Step up just slightly in size to my Detective Special or step down in cartridge to the 32 S&W Long and again I find the snub nose revolver easy to control and comfortable to shoot. In fact the last couple times I had to shoot a qualifier I used the DS.
The other big issue is to find grips that actually fit you and give you greater control. Changing from the original grips on my Chiefs Special to a set from Altamont or a Pachmayr Compact grip made a significant difference in comfort and control.

I have two on my carry permit, the Model 60 Pro Series being my EDC standby for the past four years.
Yes, a j frame or snubbie of some make and model daily.
Would sell all others and get two SW442 and two SW43c both cut for Pro sights from DL Sports. They would be the only ones I would carry and shoot. Expensive, but like divorces, well worth it. Someday soon.

I had to Google the S&W 43C? Cool little 22lr. I think I would have a hard time paying $749 (retail) for it. If it is what you want it is a nice little/light j frame.

I really like 3 inch Chief Specials. I've had a 3 inch (tapered barrel) M36 for years (bought it i 1981 when I was in the police academy for an off duty/backup gun), bought a model 60 3 inch about five years later, and then in recent years have acquired a 36 heavy barrel, a 60-15 in .357 magnum (looks like a midget L frame) and might be buying a 60-4 (same gun in .38) 3 inch Chief Specials are the only gun I sort of collect.
They are amazing, and SW is VERY proud of them! I had one earlier this year and sold it off. Kept the 351c, 22mag, and wish I didn’t. Have the LCR22, and it’s almost as nice as the the 43c. But the 43c just carried better than the LCR22 and has a better trigger than the 351c. Sometimes you have to pay to get what you want.

It's not a snubby but my S&W 34-1 does get to go WalkAbout quite often. Not as often as it did a half century or so ago and not in as enjoyable settings as wandering the Catoctin Mountain ridge-line.

Yep, sometimes in the wilderness when I want to travel as light as possible, and might need to live off the land.

I carry mine while hiking in the summer. It's a handy little piece. I sometimes put shot in it for snakes.

The 442 is perfect for pocket carry as the black color does not stand out if you pocket bows open in a store. I traded my 642 for a 442 for that very purpose. The local GS has a used 442 for $400 I am tempted to buy as a spare.

Yep they had one at a local GS and I always longed for it, but the price is too high. Not sure why that one got a higher price than the 442.
