I am not starting this because Of Shtf or because of the fact that obama won I just want to know do y'all keep a stash you wont shoot how about components

I load mostly for plinking, but load some for defense that are loaded into a mag for easy access that I don`t shoot. (40 s&w, .38 special, .223)

Not sure why it wouldn't be wise. I'm as paranoid as the next guy, but storing ammo is legal. Until that changes, don't be afraid. Instead, share your knowledge with others so they may learn also.

Now, once it becomes outlawed, then i'll have to admit how it sunk with my firearms and boat in the Ohio River...

Yes, I keep a supply on hand that I do not shoot. Not sure how much, but it's enough to make my wife wonder about me sometimes.

I hang on to a few boxes of factory sub-sonic hollow points that only get loaded into magazines for personal protection (this opinion was based on the notion that if I ever had to defend myself with the use of deadly force, I wouldn't have to later explain that the ammo used was in some way too extreme, etc.). Otherwise, I reload everything else used for plinking, target, and hunting.

I fully intend to shoot any & all ammo I make.
But, yes, I ALWAYS have some on hand and before I shoot it, I'll make more.

My thing is to keep at least 2 years reloading/shooting supplies ahead for rough patches and enough ammo loaded/ready to keep 6 to 8 months ahead of current usage. That takes enough of my time up these days to venture any further into the future with my plans.

I'm trying to get a stash built up over the winter when my shooting slows way down. Up to now, I've been shooting everything I can crank out (sometimes even more resulting in having to get some store bought factory to keep up). But I would like to get a nice quantity ready to go for next spring. After that I'll always have some on hand and keep pumping out more, but I'll just rotate through it. But I never want to get back to the point of not having ANY ammo around and having to go dump a ton of cash at the LGS just to go shoot.

Dunno what you mean by "Won't shoot", if you mean do I keep a supply on hand so I am not at the mercy of the store inventory, yes. It will all get shot eventually as I use up the oldest stuff and replace it with newer stuff.

Never shoot- I've got some "range-dropped duds" and "somebody-elses' failed reloads" given to me waiting to be pulled down, I'll never shoot that junk but I will pull it apart for components.
