Do you reload for a FAL?

I have a new one and am shooting South African at this point. I am about to start loading .223 Reminton for an AR and was thinking about adding .308 at some point. However, one thing I notice is that the FAL beats/chews the brass up much worse than a Bushmaster. I'm wondering if it is as economical (number of reloads per case) as I hope reloading for the AR to be. Sure wouldn't try to run Lapua through it!

My FALs really aren't too rough on the brass. Maybe if you backed off on the gas setting a little it wouldn't tear it up too badly?

My FAL's aren't hard on brass either unless I have the gas valve open too far.

Adjust your gas valve to throw the cases a maximum of 10 feet.

I just finished rolling up 500 rounds of 308 for my FAL this weekend.

As I am using Hirtenberger surplus brass I stayed to the low end of the listed specifications for the powders I was using, (H335 and Accurate Data 68, aka Accurate 2015).

I'm anxious to see how it shoots but as I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery it's going to have to wait a while. In fact am guessing my wife will take it to the range before I get the chance...

I have an early box of cases from my first shoot. Since then I put in a recoil buffer from Buffer Technologies. When I added it the bolt wouldn't retract after the last shot, so I adjusted the gas down a click or two. The cases I am looking at are in better condition than the ones I shot with the buffer in. I'll probably take out the buffer and return the gas setting to its original position. The main "damage" to the early cases was a ding on the rim of the head and some of the mouths were bent in. Easily fixed. Now if I could just reload all those berdan primed surplus rounds......

I will be loading some 165 grain bullets over BLC (2) for my FAL tonight. The bullets are match grade and have no cannelure. Should I worry about the bullets being pushed back into the case when the bolt and bolt carrier strip them off of the magazine and chamber them? I am worried about overpressure.
