This is an old Mauser that was given to my dad. I believe it's a .32. Other than beening a little DA/SA semi-auto I can't tell you much about it. It slide is release by the magazine and is kind of a pain in the butt. It's actually a pretty nice pointer. It has a little Nazi War Eagle behind the trigger on the right side of the gun, and on the front of the slide on the right side.

On the left side of the slide it says:
Mauser Werke A.G. Oberndorf a.N.

Mod HSc Kal 7.65 mm

Anyone have a clue on how to field strip this gun?

^ Thanks for the help JellyJar. I wish I could find something on how you are suppose to break the gun down.

Field stripping has a trick to it.

From the NRA Firearms Assembly pistol volume:

"To take down the HSc, remove magazine and clear chamber. Pull hammer back to full cock and put safety catch down over red dot. Hold down notched catch inside front of trigger guard. At same time pull slide forward and upward until it is free of frame."

If you need to remove the barrel, push it forward and pull the rear end down at the same time, then ease it out towards the back.

I wholeheartedly recommend the NRA rifle and pistol disassembly volumes to everyone.

Looks like a nice one; Wish I had the money to buy one like that but WWII ones are going for $500 to $1400 (depending on condition) on gunbroker. Buy some .32 ACP & enjoy!

Thanks guys!

I got it stripped, cleaned, and oiled, and man did it need it. Had to scrape a bunch of dried up oil and grit out of it. I took some fine emery cloth to the barrel to clean most of the staining off of it, and it's just much smoother now that it's got some oil on it's slide rails.

It's serial # 803 572 should make it a WWII gun. I believe the last WWII guns carried serial #'s in the 952 000 range.

There's a little story behind this gun after the war, but I'm not really sure how true it is.
