I'm thinking about buying some extra magazines for my SR40c and I was wondering if anyone besides Ruger made magazines for them. I did a little searching but didn't find anything. I don't have anything against the Ruger magazines, I just like to know all my options before I buy something.

I suspect Ruger doesn't make their own magazines. If I were to bet on it, my money would be on Mec-Gar as the maker, though they don't show SR mags with their own brand on them, yet. http://shop.mec-gar.com/Magazines/Ruger

Are you looking for another source other than The Ruger Store? Brownell's, Top Gun Supply, MidwayUSA are all good places to look for mags.

From what I have seen several people do online it seems that M&p magazines can be made to fit and function in the SR series with very minor modifications. I have not personally done this but I have inserted an m&p 9 magazine into my sr9 and it fit perfectly and it looks like the only functional difference is the magazine catch which would be very easy to cut.

As far as I know no. Mec-Gar makes the Ruger SR series magazines (just like they do for lots of other companies).

Don't know if they're available for the SR40c, but I know for the SR9 Ruger sells the mags in a "twin-pack" where you get two for only a couple dollars more than a single one costs.

Ruger doesn't make their own mags, at least for the SR40's. If you look at one, you'll see "Made in Italy" stamped on them. AFAIK, Ruger doesn't have a plant in Italy.

You might check at Academy Sports for your Ruger mags...

About a month ago or so I bought five 9 round mags for my SR40c from Academy... they had them on clearance for $15 each. I cleaned off the shelf, bought the last 5 that they had at the store.
