does this make sense? (j-frame vs. MK40)

so, I've been thinking of getting a little J-frame size shrouded hammer Revo for winter coat pocket carry. then, it dawned on me: what can a snub do that my MK40 can't? they're both small, they both fire a potent round, and the MK40 has an edge in capacity. the only thing I can think of is that I can fire a revo without taking it out of my pocket.

do you guys think it would be worth it to buy a revo just for this purpose? would it be a waste of money? (speaking from a practical aspect, of course. I don't own a revolver, so I'll get one eventually, but probably something a bit bigger)

also, if I get the snubbie, who still makes a blued snub? S&W has pretty much gone all stainless, right?

In pocketable snubbies I prefer the Colt D frames to the Smith J frames. If you look around you can often find a nice Detective Special, one of the prettiest blues ever found on a handgun, at a reasonable price. Personally, I find I tend to carry my DS more often than my pocketable semis, but that is only subjective, no really good reason other than I shoot them well.

I don't own a pocket revolver, but for the sake of discussion, I have also considered the aspect of being able to fire from inside of the pocket. It seems like there are situations where it would be comforting to know that you could defend yourself without first having to present the weapon.
Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish between a group of boisterous youths and a criminal gang, for example. It would be nice to be ready if the situation suddenly went bad. With the MK, you can fire once from concealment, but who knows what kind of entanglement the action would cause in your pocket? With the shrouded hammer revo, you could fire once from concealment and know that you could still draw the weapon un-entangled. The drawback with the revo (like you say) is less ammo.

I just bought a snubbie myself so I can carry in pants pocket.All the semi's I've seen look too big for pants carry.

Smith still makes 442s. They're blue. Albeit matte.

Taurus makes blued snubs. I would go for the snub. They seem to kick less.
