In my effort to create my own gun-related website, I realized that I needed a professional designer to come up with a fresh look. Not too many in the creative end of the ad business are conservatives, and even fewer are people that I get along with on a personal level.

Anyway, "John" has always expressed an interest in guns, visited gun shops, and knew he wanted a Glock 17, but finances didn't allow. I asked him if he would handle the design of the site on an ongoing basis, and suggested a G17 as reimbursement. He was, needless to say, more than excited.

Last week he picked up his new G17 at the shop where I'd made all the arrangements (legally). Yesterday we went shooting, and he was just having a blast. Afterwards, we went for coffee, and he started peppering me with questions: how much does it cost to join the NRA; what did I have to go through to get my FL non-resident carry permit; what does reloading entail; who's a good firearms instructor; what's the best cleaning stuff; etc.

For about two hours, I explained to him all the legal stuff that's gone on--GCA of '68, AW ban, plastic gun ban--and we talked about just about every other shooting topic as well.

Several times I invited him to visit THR. I hope he shows soon. I think we now have another hard-core gunowner in our midst. :)
