In my hunt for an over/under on Gunbroker, I saw a trap gun with two high viz front sights. One was the factory sight, and the other was a longer high viz sight mounted on the rib right behind it. Both were green high viz.

I have never seen such a thing on a shotgun of any type. Why would anyone want two sights like this, especially for trap shooting?

Could it be that the longer sight, mounted closer to him (further back on the barrel), changed his POA a bit higher, effectively dropping the barrel a bit, because he was shooting high on his shots?

Most people who install a Hi-Viz type sight put it right behind the bead. Many of them simply clip on to the rib or are held by two-sided tape, and can be removed if desired. It makes sense to leave the bead on; doesn't hurt anything (The fiber optic sight obscures the bead) and helps resale value by being easily removable with no marks left.

The "Champion" fiber optic sights that were touted by Tom Knapp have a center "bead" on them, surrounded by the lightpipe. They are designed to help prevent cross-dominant firing. If you try to use the dominant eye, you won't be able to see the center bead, at least in theory.

Could it be that the longer sight, mounted closer to him (further back on the barrel), changed his POA a bit higher, effectively dropping the barrel a bit, because he was shooting high on his shots?

The difference in POI in that instance is negligible.
