Do you have two or more of the same gun? I find myself wanting to have all the variants of the Ruger P95 and even some doubles of the exact same gun...I just love this model. Anyone else feeling the love with a particular model like me?

Found on "View from the Porch" blog:
As Chris Rhines commented in the recent post at Marko's place:

I don’t worry too much about the man with only one gun – he probably bought that gun for self defense, ran a box of ammo through it, tossed it in the nightstand, and forgot about it. I worry about the guy with two or three identical guns, all of them well-worn.

Wish I had the capital to have multiples. Sadly, I am scraping by with the ones I have.

I do have one Hi-Power MkIII and an FEG PJK 9 HP so does that count as a start?
Yeah multiples for me would mean collecting Hi-Powers and their knock-offs and contracts. I'm a blue color working man so I don't make the jingle it takes to do that.

You can multiples of similar, but not identical.

A good example is a 5" all steel 1911 supplemented by a Lightweight Commander. It can do 95% of what the Govt model can do, but can do several different things better than the Govt model.

Or a Glock 17 and a 26, or a G34 and G19

Yeah thats a good start...keep going man. My wife is pretty much the reason I dont have dozens right now...lol. Its all good though, she wants us to be able to eat every day. :what:

I plan on buying another Walther PPQ 9mm, and possibly one in .40. I know of somebody who has five PPQs in 9mm. Two are First Edition.

I've got a mental block and have never been able to bring myself to buy multiples of the exact same gun. The closest pair I have is a Sig 225 and 226. I understand the logic behind locking yourself into one platform and having a backup but when it comes time to spend money I can't help but feel like its a waste to get something I already have and know.

Lately I've been debating getting a PPQ or M&P. My P99 is probably my favorite handgun so the PPQ would be a winner but I find myself thinking about getting a M&P just to have something different. I was able to shoot one with an Apex trigger and it feels really good in the hand.

Anyways yeah maybe whenever I can't find anything new that interest me I can start picking up doubles.

I have in the past when my collection was about 6 times the size it is now. As I rebuild my collection I can see a lot of similar guns in my future. I really like J-Frames, Vaquero's and P-Series Sig's, namely the 239. I'd like to add a 642, 638, a .45 colt Vaquero and a .357 sig 239. Those are at the top of my list, I'll probably start with the .45LC.

Nope. When I can avoid it I don't even like duplicating brands (though I have done so a few times). I been meaning to add a .40S&W to the stable for example and I've been intentionally looking at guns for which I don't own anything of theirs yet (Steyr and FN being likely candidates).

Just with my personality type though, I'm addicted to variety. Getting a pistol of the same general model as one I already have kills most of the excitement around getting a new gun (for me anyways).

SA/DA safety/decocker on the slide, .380acp .45acp 1-3/4lb and 3lb close enough for me.

Dupes would be boring but similar platforms is flexibility.

Seven 1911s none identical, looking for more. I do have 2 Colt Mk IV Series 70 1911s, one .45 and one in 9mm. If you squint your eyes, all my Glock pistols look the same.
