Dovetailed Front Sight (1858 Remmie)

Anyone got one of these laying around that they could measure for me?
I lopped 1-1/4 inch off the end of my Stainless 1858 Remington, and now have front sight dilemma. Can't find a dovetail sight locally, so, I'm thinking that, since I saved the barrel end (with post sight) that I cut off ... I could talk a machinist friend to mill it into a dovetail sight for me.

Try VTI gun parts .. if yours was a Pietta and had post type .. look at the Uberti stainless model on VTI `s site the Uberti is dovetailed in you can cut the dovetail and install this one .

I've checked with VTI, Dixie Gunworks, Thunder Ridge ... First off, I'd like to say that there is no way I', paying $6 in shipping charges. Second, the only Remington sight I've found is the plain post (the one that is pressed and soldered into a hole).
All I'd like is if someone has an Uberti style sight, if they could take several measurements off of the base (dovetail) so I can make one, or have one made.

Sure WW no problem ... 1858 remington Uberti ....front sight base is 3/8 wide 3/8 long the post sight on it is 2/8 dia ..can`t tell ya how tall they come from factory cause i trimmed a little off the top for sight adjustment but mine is now 2 and 1/2 8ths tall ... hope this is what ya are looking for ..good luck makeing one .

With one exception ... how thick is the base, and any idea what the dovetail angle is?

WW the base is 1/8 thick ... can`t measure the bevel angle but it looks like a 45 degree .. the angle on a small triangle file works perfect . these Uberti sights are alot bigger than the Euro front sight .. i`ve got a few extra Euro front sights ..if you would rather have one send me a message with an address and i`ll drop ya one in the mail ..for the 3 bucks i paid for it . and 39 cents stamp ..lol . guess i bought all dixie had they probally forgot to reorder ...anytime i order 3 dollar parts i always buy a few of each ...to make the shipping charge worth it .

You've got to be kidding me ... right?!?!

Do the Euro front sights have a dovetail base? Are they in the white, or blued?

FYI - If a triangle file will fit the dovetail angle, then the angle should be about 60 degrees (sum of the angles in a triangle add up to 360).
