Do any of you have a DPMS AP4 308? If so, could you tell me about their strengths and weaknesses? I am considering buying one but dont have any first hand knowledge of them. I have a 16 inch Saiga 308 that does great and I dont know if the DPMS is worth 4 times the cost of the Saiga. Thanks in advance for any information!

One thing to consider is the price of the magazines. DPMS wants $55 for a single steel 20-rd magazine. They share magazines with the SR-25, but not the AR-10.

I've read some reports that they'd choke on surplus ammo. This may have been resolved by now. In any case, I think the days of cheap .308 surplus are about over anyway.

look in the ar10 section of the equipment exchange on ar15.com, theres a vendor selling the dpms steel 19 rounders 10/$299.

My brother's DPMS works okay with clean SA surplus, but choked on some delinked stuff we had. I think it is just picky.

Other than that, it is accurate, light weight for a .308, light recoil, and balances well in the standing position. I got to fire his just a couple weeks ago.

I got one.

I picked one up a couple weeks ago and I really like it. I just put a Wilson one piece scope mount and a Nikon 3 x 9 on it. I wont get a chance to sight it in till next Monday but I do look forward to it.
