I was curious if anyone had there Ruger GP100 drilled and tapped? I would like to put a red dot scope on it. What would this cost and is it worth it? Thanks.

I've not had it done to a Ruger, but I've had several of my S&W revolvers D&T'ed. I was charged $15 per hole, and would guess the Ruger would be the same price.

Good Luck...

Joe

Assuming you've got a 6 inch GP100, take a look at the B-Square full length scope rail for the GP100. I have one on mine and it works great. You take off the sights and it fits into the front sight slot and screws into the rear sight elevation screw hole. No drilling, no tapping.

I've got an Ultra Dot mounted on mine and it hasn't lost it's zero in a few thousand rounds so far.

They go for about 50 bucks and you can find them in most of the big gun supply places on-line.

Kruzr,

I looked at that one. From what I can see, its just one screw holding it on the gun. Have you shot any magnum round threw it or just 38 Specials? Thanks.

The front fits into the front sight slot. The mount is secured front and back. You have to remove both sights from the GP100. The rear screws in. I shoot mostly magnum from this gun (I hate cleaning carbon rings from .38.) The mount hasn't moved at all.

We drilled and tapped my GP for a scope base I made. Mounted a red dot on it and shot a lot of Action Pistol with it. .38 special. It worked great.
