I've recently inherited a GPR from my son and am getting set up to try to shoot it on a regular basis at some local clubs and such. It currently has the stock sights, but I have a Lyman 57 GPR sight that I'll be putting on it and trying with the stock front blade. From what I can see, this should work at least adequately. However, at that point, the standard (buckhorn) rear will be "in the way".
Some matches require the use of open sights, and I'd like to be able to participate in those. The 57 will come off it's base easy enough, but what to do about the open sight?
Does anyone have any experience dealing with trying to allow the rifle to function in "dual mode" like this? Would any of the "fold down" open sights be enough out of the way if folded down? I'm looking specifically at the Marble Arms Folding Leaf Sight or Folding Rear Sight.
Are there others that would work?
