dui and ccw

While your question has already been answered, I thought I might add a bit more to the post, just as a FYI for everyone.

A Deputy District Attorney I know in California (and the former DA of Del Norte County) tells me he has seen exactly 2 incidents involving CCW permit holders in his 25 years as a prosecutor. Each of these people forgot they had their weapon in the glove box, and of course, they had a DUI.

I mention this for two reasons.

First, for this prosecutor, 2 cases out of tens of thousands is not many at all. And these two cases did not involve any misuse of the weapon, just personal carelessness. The point here is if this prosecutor's numbers are even close to the national rate of criminality for CCW permit holders, CCW permit holders are not dangerous as we are told.

The other reason is of course the CCW permit revocation that occurred following the DUI. In these CA cases, they were permanent revocations, so no CCW could be obtained in the future, ever.

Protect what you've got, and don't be stupid.

I heard that the great state of Kentucky "required" an applicant have at least four shots of moonshine before they're even allowed to pick up a firearm. Something about settling the shakes... or something... I think.:D
