I used to cruise through e-bay to find gun parts, etc. With the new "enlightened" policy, that no longer works. Is there an alternative?

Specifically, I'm looking for a .204 Ruger barrel for a 700 and and aftermarket trigger. Yeah, I can go to Brownell's, Midway, etc. but there have to be some take-off's or used stuff that somebody wants to get rid of and I want to buy.

Gunbroker.com

Auctionarms.com

Those are basically Ebay for guns. All you'll ever need. And, of course, you could post in the classifieds forums here. You never know.

well, not really. I checked both of those. Maybe one or two things. e-bay used to have pages and pages of take-off barrels, stocks, triggers, etc. Kills me because somewhere out there is a new factory take-off or nearly new custom barrel in my caliber that's calling my name. They want to get rid of it and I want to buy it.

Are those sites unregulated? Another words, if you wanted to buy gun X from seller X, do you need to submit paperwork, or is the transaction under the table (so to speak)?

They are subject to the same rules as any other gun transaction.

Vector, transactions must be handled face to face or via FFL. There's no "under the table" about it - it's legal.

I want to like those gun auction sites but their prices don't seem to be any better than midway or other merchants for most parts. As much as I hate ebay's policies they did have some decent deals from time to time and I don't think many of the sellers made it over to gunbroker or auctionarms.

The only reason I asked is because when the Bargain Trader use to have private gun ads, some of the would be sellers never filed paperwork. They may have been ignorant of the requirement, or didn't want to spook a potential buyer. Whatever the reason you could pick up some deals and not have to pay gun store prices. I imagine those sites get close to what the actual value is.

there is a sight I use for a few items- Ammo Brass Trader forum- they have whats in the name and reload supplies-gun parts if your looking for something, just ask, if someone on the sight has it... just my 2cents. good luck Bob

Thanks for the links guys! I still miss the days when Ebay had all sorts of gun accessories to scan through.

Ebay will never be the same... Gunbroker and AuctionArms are OK but prices are generally high and not enough of the "Gun Junk" that a lot of us appreciated on Ebay.

What "paperwork" are you refering to Vector? The requirements vary from state to state but what paperwork is required in a face-to-face transaction between individuals?

Post a WTB here on this site,it has thousands of members.

Anybody remember when ebay had GUNS for sale?? You could spend hours perusing the offerings.
Must have been at least ten years or more.wow, time flies.

Ebay's mostly worried that it'll get sued or otherwise screwed for selling gun parts... They're a big target.

Imagine if one of their minions, who knows squat, lets something slide. Turns out that Ebay facilitates an illegal transaction. F-Troop comes down on 'em with a herd of government-paid attorneys. Personally, I don't blame 'em.

Most of the non-shooting community doesn't know about gunbroker, etc... So you're not going to have anti-gun folks impulse-purchasing something, and then bragging about it in print... But I'll bet that those guys are also one or two court cases away from chucking it...
