A local shop has two EAA Windicators for under $200 new, one in .38 & the other in .357. Does anyone have any opinion on these revolvers?
EAA Windicator- worth buying??

Never shot one, but I've heard very good things about them, Try a search, someone posted a very nice favorable review a while back.

The basic 'gist' of it is, the .357 doesn't handle heavy .357 loads very well. The cylinder locking mechanism is poorly designed and the spring in the rear latch (I guess that's what you'd call it) is pretty weak in mine so the recoil causes the plunger to retract a bit allowing the things to move around some...
Basically, .38's are no problem but too many .357's will beat these pistols up pretty bad.
At least that's what I found out. Other than that's it's not bad.. worth $200 but I wouldn't pay a penny more ;-)

I have a 2" and 4" in .357 and i love mine.That said,i usually shoot 158gr S&B .38spl FMJ's through them but have also sent several boxes of Fiocchis "knock your socks off" .357 mag through them without any ill effects.I have seen this round immediately give a Ruger GP-100 problems after just a few rounds.Thats probably just be a fluke however.

That would be just a fluke.
A Windicator is in no way anywhere near as stout as a GP100.
The few ones that I've seen get seriously used developed endshake and runout problems too fast for my taste. I've also seen several that had iffy timing when still NIB. Caveat emptor.

These revolvers are manufactured in Germany by H. Weiruch for EAA. I owned one in .38 spcl with adjustable sights and a .357 mag. They are extremely well-made with nice fit/finish, hold 6 rounds and shoot very beautifully and accurately. They are a bit on the heavy side at over 30 oz apiece but with the molded rubber grip, they're one of the most comfortable snubbies to shoot. I trained my wife on my .38 spcl because it was so comfortable, accurate and really soaked up the recoil. The only feature I didn't like was the serrated trigger; I much prefer a radiused trigger. Small complaint though.
I would recommend the .38 spcl over the .357 mag because the owner's manual cautions against using +P loads in the .357 mag. If you plan to use higher pressure +P or hand loads, I'd pass to an SP101 or GP100 instead. Otherwise, use factory loads and enjoy yourself.
They're a best-kept secret and I'd recommend one for anyone who wants a nice quality inexpensive revolver.

As long as you don't want to be able to use speedloaders either, at least without having to grind out part of the recoil shield, in fact it will not eject properly if you're not in the 'right' spot.
As I said, these guns are okay for the price, and really the only option for a 6-shot snubby.
