The mags that witness use to be made by mec-gar and the springs are not that strong but with most standard loads work. It seems to be when cyle rates increases with hotter loads that problems come up more offten . I had a shooter tell me to experiment not so much with heavier recoil srpings but that does help to a point but to use a short piece of standard 1911 spring added to the last bit of witness recoil spring to slow or soft'n the impact of the slide with hotter loads. You get less pinning over time with not as much forward force with the slide as it moves forward. I ended up with about a .400 lenght piece with the 40 cal and caused on problems. This came from henning and he is a factory shooter , henningshootsguns.

To get brass closer to your county ,pull the slid and start fileing down the ejector and fire a few rounds. As you file you will see your brass start to fall closer. With my witness I ended up fileing off .14 and had brass falling at 8 feet instead of 25. I got this trick off of Brian Enoss eaa forum a year and a half or so back. Worked good for both the 40 and the 9mm slide. No reason it will not work for the 10mm. This came off the brian enoss forums some time back also.

You can also find some info on opening withs for tuneing the mags at the same forum if feed issues are your problems. Most of the shooter seem to of a more competive group there.

Hey ak-kev what kind of accuracy are you getting with your Witness match? Anybody else have experience with accuracy in this particular model?

I was reading about these too, one of the solutions I came across was using a stiffer recoil spring to keep the slide from slamming back too hard in the recoil process. That said I have a 9mm version and have run many many rounds through it, the only complaint I have is that there is no last round hold open with the magazine that came with the gun, but since I bought it used I'm not sure it is a factory mag.

I have 2 Tanfoglios. a 9mm and a 10mm. Not the Match though. My slide stays open with all my mags on both guns. Just to let you know.

I am get consistant 2" groups a 15yards. 2 hand hold, the gun shoots better than I do, I am not as steady as I was 10, 20, 30, years ago. I have changed the front sight on the match to their fiber optic, My 10 year old witness shoots just as well and has without a glitch since I have had it
