out of my rifle anyway...

Not sure how many people are using these for target or hunting, but my 7mm-08 Tikka is just gobbling these bullets up, and spitting them through bugholes. Most accurate bullet I've ever shot, out of anything.

I've shot 162 ELD-X over H4350, H4895, IMR 4350, RL-17 and IMR 8202 XBR and the WORST I can do with them is still under an inch. H4350 and IMR 8208 XBR puts them through the same ragged hole.

Hornady has a believer in me with this one.

I dont have a 7 anymore (GASP!), but i always ran the 162amaxes in them before the eldxs came out. Excellent accuracy and on game performance.

I AM shooting thr 143 eldxs from my 6.5-284, and so far they are turning in excellent accuracy....ill be trying the .257s in my .250AI when they become available.

My 308 loves the 178ELD-M, I haven’t tried the X yet because I have a few hundred M’s

On the one hand, they make me want to shoot more but on the other hand what's the point. LOL

This makes about as much sense to me as saying you enjoy slamming your hand in a car door.

"Boringly accurate" means you aren't shooting far enough.
This should be the motto of this website. And to this I'll add: Go play with the big boys and shoot for money and it won't be boring any longer.

My father in law has been bugging me and my friend to have a "Beer shoot," where some marksmanship challenge is set, and the lowest scorer buys the beer.

After seeing me chip golf balls at 200 with my 7mm, and my friend's 900 yard elk kill, he stated recently that, "i may have to step up my game, or I'm gonna be buying a lot of beer..."

PS...the beer starts after the shooting is done...

Gotta agree. I had a 223 that was boring until you got past 300 yards. Then you had to get serious.

As for the ELD-X, I have shot them in my Creedmoor and they work on deer from 30yds-315yds. The 30 yarder was DRT. The long shot went 10 yards. Sub-MOA from the bench.

Keep the replies coming boys! I am looking to step up in BC from the 168g MatchKings for my precision .308. The 178g ELDX is at the top of my list to try. Seems like it would work well for pronghorn too.

Offhand,
I've competed in another sport on the biggest stage in the world. I have no interest in "shooting for money" with a firearm. My rifles are hunting tools, and my home range is 300 max. And at that distance, my 162 ELD-X's are boring. And that's a good thing.

I've had excellent results with 200 gr in a 300 WSM, 178's in 308 and 30-06 and the 143's out of a 6.5 Creedmoor. I've not shot any game with them yet, but by all accounts they work pretty well. A little more expansion than some like, but they only make them in heavy for caliber weights so the penetration is there.

Newtosavage:

I agree that Hornady has been manufacturing some impressive ammunition. I have had excellent results with Hornady SuperFormance with SST, GMX and A-MAX projectiles. I’ll have to try the ELDs. Thanks for creating this thread.
