Ok now you EMP owners---I need your help and advice. I thought I would clean the new EMP this afternoon after putting about 300 rounds through it over the past few days. Disassembly was a piece of cake. I used the small spacer provided to reduce the tension on the recoil spring and all was well. Got her all cleaned up and started putting things back together---barrel went fine ...recoil spring slipped right in---- But, whats the deal with getting the slide stop back in (not the pin end, but the square end that is off set and has little notches)??? I finally had to get my wife to help (before I threw the damb thing in the lake) by holding the plunger pin back while I wiggled the damb thing around and finally got it to drop in. Shoot a guy needs four hands and then you don't have room for all the fingers... I checked the plunger pin and it moved back and forth freely so ---maybe I'm overlooking something ----can you help?
Thanks,
Jim

If it is made right, the top lug on the slide stop has enough of a bevel that you insert the shaft through frame and link, then set the bevel against the end of the slide stop plunger. It is a little below its normal resting position.
Retract the slide until the clearance notch - not the slide stop engagement notch - is lined up above the top lug. Then push the slide stop lever in and up. It should snap into place.

If it is NOT made right, without enough bevel or the plunger or tube made wrong allowing the plunger to protrude too far - all too common these days - you may have to use an implement to hold back the plunger while you push the slide stop in. My gunsmith has the technique down and can do it with no trouble, but I can't describe what he does.
Be sure you use a non-marring implement, maybe a piece of old credit card, and be careful not to swing the slide stop down hard and apply an idiot mark.

Mr. Watson is correct,it will take you a few times to get it right but then you will just suddenly be able to do it with out any problem. I had the luxury of owning a micro compact already and it goes together the same way. I did however see one in a shop while looking for mine that did have a terrible mark from someone carelessly assembling it.
I also found that it is possible to assemble/disassemble without using that silly plastic spacer, just use care.
