can i use 150 gr blackpowder with a tc maxi ball.barrel lenght is 14 inch.i have shot 100 gr with ball and patch. i think maxi ball is 325 gr,i know you can shoot 150 grs with maxi ball in the rifle.thanks,swdon

Max loads.

Hey there,
The max loads for the Encore pistol are 110 grains of ffg with a 300 grain bullet. Any more and you are just blowing powder. This shows a muzzle velocity of 1417 fps and 1328 fp energy. Plenty !!! It's not that the barrel can not take it, it is more that it ends up of no value. If you ever chrongraph these loads you will see what I am saying. Very little velocity gain for the extra powder.
If you want a better system try this. Start at 70 grains of Pyrodex "P".
80 grains will more than likely be a max load. The Remington 209 muzzleloader only primer will give you better groups and less wear on the breech plug.
This is a high volume low psi primer and works very well.
