I just recieved my updated C&R and am ready to start ordering again.

I've been eyeballing the .308 Enfields that AIM has but have a couple questions.

Are these rifles a worth while purchase? I've read a couple references to only shooting NATO ammo in them. With 7.62 surplus knocking on $400/k it seems a bit pricey. If they would work with some modern ammo i.e. Hornady it would open alot of doors.

Any thoughts on a full power rifle? I'm looking into the Nagants or a Mauser. Cheap ammo is a factor here.

Ammo ain't going to get cheaper, for a while, and those rifles ain't going to get cheaper either.

A 308 Lee Enfield will alway be a neat bolt gun. I have one, paid $120.00 in 1996 for it. I got one at a gun show with an excellent barrel. I then proceeded to glass bed the thing. Still about a 4" gun at 100 yards.

The Indian built Enfields are a little rougher than the British built, Austrialian built, and the Long Branch Enfields have the best worksmanship. But they all go bang, but a 2a will shoot 308. And since the 308 was a 50's round, there were not a lot of service rifle bolt guns that were built to use that round.

I can recall shooting some of my match 308 in the thing, so modern ammo will of course shoot in the thing. I never shot enough to determine if the action was weaker than a No 4. Rear locking actions are always springer than front lockers.

Hey, you can load 11 or 12 rounds of 308 in the thing. If you can crank the bolt fast enough, you can almost rock and roll.

I just bought one, its a 1966 RFI and seems well built. Function is very good.
I've only fired about 50 rounds through it and accuracy is decent. Ref amm cost, reload. I still had a set of .308 dies. Paid $240 for it.
