You can shoot .38 Special out of your Enfield if you like picking steel out of your teeth. These guns were made for the 38-200, which is the British nomenclature, 38 caliber , 200 grain bullet, except they later changed the military load to 38-180 ( yes, they did). The .38 S&W is the same shell with a lighter bullet. Back to the .38 Special, the 38 Special should not even fit into your cylinder, under no circumstances even consider shooting any thing but 38 S&W in your revolver.
