Was given a case of these shells. They are 20 ga. 2 3/4 #8 competition and field loads and are made in Minnesota. Someone told me they are "promotional" line shells made by Federal. Has anyone had experience with these ?

A guy I used to shoot trap with used these out of his SxS for trap. Got some nice scores!

I bought a box Estate Mighty Lite 12 gauge shells loaded with seven eighths of an ounce of eights a few months ago.

My son and I fired about half the box at hand thrown clay targets using a Mossberg 590 and an old J.C. Higgins pump. In the Mossberg they seemed to kick about as much as the WalMart high vel one ounce loads. In the J.C. they kicked quite a bit less.

When my son and I shot right they busted the clays very well.
I wish I'd bought a few more boxes.

Estate was a relatively small independent shotshell manufacturer in Texas. The company was bought by Blount, Inc. several years ago, and was shortly sold to ATK (Alliant) along with Blount's other ammunition producers, including Federal. After the sale all of Estate's manufacturing facilities were transferred from Texas to Anoka, Minnesota, colocated with Federal's production facilities.

Estate made outstanding products at good prices while in business as an independent manufacturer, their contributions to the civilian ammunition market are missed by any number of shooters.

Hey, anywhere north of the Mason Dixon line it's all just cold country no matter what you call it 8^) . It was a brainfreeze, fixed now...

So far in my 28ga I've only used Estate (Because I can get a flat locally for $50). They've done great for me, can't be beat for the price IMHO.

Good shells, if a bit dirty in the bore. I have been picking them up for $29.90 a flat here, but I was told they raised their prices now to the retail market and to not expect them to be under $3.50 a box ever again.

Estate Cartridges are excellent shells. I use them mainly for small game and sometimes waterfowl when I can't find any Kents in the size I mainly use.

First used Estates back in the mid 70's while in the Marines when firing the Remington 870. #9 00 buck. Did not see them again (wasn't looking either) until the late 90's when a friend reccomended them. I didn't know they sold them to the public at that time.

Great shells at a more than fair price. Don't hesitate to use them.

Estate Shells

I picked up a flat of Estate shells last Sunday at a gun show $ 30.00. Normal price in my area is $ 3.65 to $ 3.90 a box. Another gun show this week end in Harrisburg PA and I'll be checking prices, after all can never have enough shells and clay.

I do very well with them skeet shooting, but never been hunting with them but i am sure they are so good shells.
