It appears that I have a Navy Arms Parker Hale Musketoon. What is the best load in terms of Minnie ball and powder? I am guessing either .575 or .577. With 55 grains of FFG. Just curious about anyone else's experience.

I use a 577 minie casted from a Parker-Hale mould (RCBS made) powered by 65 grains FF.

Load worked

Here is the accuracy I got with the .577 and 55 grains of FFG at 45 yards.

Not bad for a start. But for target out to 100 yrds 55 of 2ffg is not really needed. Personaly would drop it to 40 and work up by 2 grn until it closes then opens up again. the work be tween that in 1/2 grn to find the sweet spot.
In mine i find that 2ffg requires 10 more to get same results as 3fffg.
both 2 ffg and 3fffg work for me. I settled on 3fffg because I use less of it for the same results.
for seating you should be able to push the round down w/ 2 fingers around the ram rod and then a tap to set it on the powder. As stated in another post .001 to 002 under bore w pure lead.
if you are slamming the round down you are deforming it and it will never get you to where you want to be.
