I always thought an actual mace or morningstar would be neat to own but I've only ever seen cheap zinc cast ones.

Too bad you didn't say that two or three months ago, Cold Steel just stopped making a nice carbon steel mace.

Heck... you can pick up a decent steel mace at any Ren Faire. Just be prepared to pay through the nose for it. Also try Museum Replicas: don't know what their quality is like now, but they used to be fairly good...

They still are. Best bang for the buck. You can find better weapons, but you'll have to have it custom made or pay through the nose.

Upper left hand corner "Weapons" -> Historical -> "Axes, Hammers and Maces".

Granted, I prefer a good battle axe over a mace, but I support a woman's right to choose. ;)

Heh... when I still did SCA (WAY back when), I had a nice all steel warhammer that was affectionately called "Ballbreaker" by the ladies who knew me. I didn't HAVE to escort a lady to the privy at night: I'd just loan her the hammer and a light... >:)

And there WERE one or two guys that were upset about the situation...

Ha. But have you ever carried a warhammer with a happy face on the striking surface? For some odd reason, that got a lot of strange looks.

Nope... *I* carried it slung on my back. The ladies carried it by hooking the back-spike over their shoulder: all they needed to do was "pop" it into the air, and guide it into the offending male...

True chivalry: arming the women!

One of my female friends was deadly with a halberd. I've seen her disarm six attackers with swords, and then 'killed' them within a total of maybe 10 seconds. Nothing like having one's sword ripped out of your hand, and then having the opposite end of a halberd crack you in the helmet before you even know what happened. Apparently, the halberd is considered one of the feminine weapons of choice in some circles.

Someone I know did win a match against another female warrior using uh, unorthodox means. He knew he was gonna lose, so he got in close, locked her weapon, and then... tickled her until she submitted. Gods, I imagine her clan will NEVER let that one down.

reminds me of the variation in the naginata: there's the old samurai version, which is just this side of a scimitar on a long pole, and the more modern "women's fencing" version with a much narrower blade. Somehow, I don't want to irritate a woman that knows how to use either...

She studied asian fighting styles. I'm more of a European weapons kinda guy, so I pretty much only know the Euro versions. I just did a google on "naginata", and that's it.

I once saw her do some kind of dance with her naginata. She tied a piece of silk to each end... Dang. Fast. Really. Fast. Under certain circumstances, I wouldn't even try to fight her with firearms. You'd have your head handed to you. Literally.
