This is a cross-post from TFL, so I apologize for redundancy for some folks, but the topic has been fascinating, so thought I'd ask over here, as well.

I had started a thread over at TFL about five years ago, about having to draw down on a perceived threat. I re-read the thread and found it fascinating, and learned a lot, so thought it would be good to re-ask the questions, "Who has actually had to "draw" on a potential BG?".

I think you are going to miss a whole bunch of answers, because most of the incidents result in "nothing spectacular", just two folks deciding to go their separate ways. (one with a need for a change of boxers) And both parties decide that no one needs to ever know about it.

Given the legal hassles involved even with a justified display of force that does not involve loud noises, many folks are well advised not to mention such events casually, especially if there is any possibility that the incident might have occurred somewhere less than enlightened in regards to carrying a weapon.

Burt, I hope you've had a chance to read the TFL thread. It is filled with the things you talk about, but also some other ones which really put the fear of gawd in folks. Real drama.

We touched on a lot of the legal aspects, as well. Many folks here had contributed to it, George Hill, Labgrade, Don Gwinn (aka Gwinnydapooh, which I will love and remember on my death bed). I've been around, yet learned a lot from our compatriots talking about what we all (well, most all) dread as the one moment we don't want to visit.

I think that as a exhange of experiences, true experiences, it shows the power of places like TFL and THR.
