Excellent Newspaper Article

Folks are always complaining that firearms enthusiasts don't get much coverage in the newspaper and when they do, it is usually negative. Yesterday's St. Paul Pioneer Press had a very nice article about a 14 year old Minnesota female who is a champion grade shooter. The printed article ran nearly a full page. See url.

Yes, we grow them to be good shots up here: I shot Trap against several girls who were Olympic-caliber shooters, and usually lost. Nice to see girls competing in 3-gun and winning. While researching uppers last night, I found a video of another 13 year old girl shooting 3-gun, but can't find it .

The Pioneer Press is much less left than The Minneapolis Star-Tribune, The Pravda of the Prairie.

A friend of ours daughter is a very good trap shooter and participates in her High School shooting program. She is so good that she has been offered a college scholarship in this year even though she still is just a Junior in High School. Until then I did not realize the trap shooting is a big college sport.

Wisconsin's, too. I stood out in the snow last night coaching the Somerset-New Richmond combined Trap team. New Richmond won't sanction a team, so they joined Somerset's. Even in the heavy snowfall, high score was 23, lots of kids shot over 20.

NCAA Rifle and Pistol matches are sponsored and Jinny Thrasher won the USA's first gold medal in the Rio Olympics. She is a Mountaineer, West Virginia University student. The Mountaineers have been to the White house a few times to celebrate their championship status.

If you check around on Youtube and Facebook you'll find a number of competitive young ladies, including Dakota, in three gun and the usual pistol competitions. I follow a couple of them on Facebook and use their videos as a reply when the "fat male white supremacist" crap comes up.
