Has anyone handled or shot the new, more ergonomic Sigs yet? I've read about the new 226 and 229 with great interest since their old style grip frame is the one thing that's kept me from truly falling for them. While most people love the feel I've never warmed up to them and the newer slimmed down grip frame looks really nice to me.

I handled one in the gun store the other day. I have on of the "regular" models.

The E2 feels great in the hand. I thought I really liked the older version (I have XL hands) but the newer is substantially better. The grip feels smaller in diameter and the area at the top of the backstrap is quite noticeably relieved.

The grip stippling has a nice fine but sharp texture.

The one piece grip somehow snaps on without screws. Not sure how I like that idea, but the feel is really nice.

If you have been thinking about a Sig I recommend you find one to try.

i was able to handle an E2 but didn't have a chance to shoot it.

i really like the idea of the one-piece grip panels as it does away with fit issues between the two halves. the undercut grip, along with the bent main spring strut does allows the gun to sit deeper in your palm. the "short trigger" didn't work for me as it cramped my trigger finger when in SA mode...but it does that on non-E2 guns too
