Gang, I am looking at a slightly used Springfield Armory 1911 loaded .45. Stainless gun.

What are your experiences with this gun? Reliable? Accurate? Worth $800?

Thanks.

I liked mine, but really, my Armscor is more accurate.

Fit and finish on the Springer is better of course.

My example Springfield Loaded series, I replaced the OEM ILS main-spring housing with a Wilson component and replaced the so called one piece recoil spring guide rod assembly with the GI equivalent components. The (2) Springfield magazines were replaced with CMC Power magazines. employed 230Gr-FMJ ball equivalent ammunition. Never shoot 200Gr SWC equivalent thru it. Accuracy equal to my Colt XSE 1911 series pistol.

IMG_4423.jpg I bought a new Black Stainless Loaded in 2008 for $749. I shot it all I wanted and sold it in 2015 for $700.

I shot mostly handloaded 230 gr cast RN or 200 gr cast SWC. I also shot a few thousand Berry's. I never had a feeding issue. I did not have to fidget with OAL. I loaded them up, did a plunk test and went to shooting. I never had any feeding issues.

The Loaded I had was a good gun. I never replaced a part in it.

That group was shot off hand at 15 yards.

Whoa.. then what I saw wasn't 'Loaded'.... it had adjustable sights, ambidextrous safety, memory grip safety, etc.. bright stainless. What was it?

Have been very satisfied with my SA 1911 for many years now. No problems to report and have never had to replace any parts on it. A quick perusal of some of the online dealers have a new SA Loaded Target .45 in stainless going anywhere from $850 to $950 (and a lot of places had it listed as being Out of Stock), so maybe $800 is a good price for a slightly used one. I suppose one advantage with the used gun is at least you can check it out thoroughly before you buy it. Let us how it works out for you.

This is the first 1911 I bought years ago.
Changed the springs, mainspring housing, trigger, sights, barrel bushing, grips and lowered the trigger to 4 lbs.
Great pistol, great shooter!
