Hi all,

Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find extra mags for a Browning Challenger .22?

I just picked one up and I'd like to have more mags than just the one that came with the pistol.

TIA

Rob

Aren't Challenger mags interchangeable with Buckmark mags? If so, they're available, but a bit pricey.

There were several generations of Challengers. The originals with the angled grip use a different mag I think. The II and III models can interchange.

Start hanging out at gun shows and the auction sites, and be prepared to shell out some dollars.

I paid just over $75 each for a pair of Medalist-Challenger-Nomad magazines about a year ago. They're wonderful pistols; unfortunately, they were too wonderful to compete against @#$%^&! from Ruger, and haven't been made since 1973.

Range report for anyone interested

Thanks for the link MattMan, 30.00 is a bit steep but if they're the only source...

Wonderful is right SW, I just tried this piece of art disguised as a pistol and for the life of me, I can't explain why I never owned a .22 before.

I picked up a 500 rd box of Winchester Super-X and after work headed over to my local range.

Damn, if I haven't had that much fun since I started owning firearms after moving to Florida 8 years ago (NY expat).

Working at around 50 ft with a few 5 bull NRA targets I put 100 rds downrange in the hour I had to spend.

Because of my bad habits I started out shooting low and to the left but all my shots grouped within 1.5-2 inches. (I was crowding the trigger)

I eased off, concentrated on keeping the very tip of my finger as the pressure point, squeezing straight back and from that point on I was dead center.

The trigger is like a glass rod with very little creep, and the slightly over sized checkered wood grips fit my hand like a glove.

No FTC, FTF or FTE, but something strange did happen. Every few rounds the slide would lock open as if the mag was empty, but there were still rounds present. Not a big deal and was corrected by a quick rack of the slide, but I'll have it checked out.

So now I have a new favorite, the other ladies in my safe are gonna be jealous ;)
