I'm planning on buying a FAL from Ohio Rapidfire here in a couple months and had a few questions:

1: Does the FAL require Mil-Spec ammo like the CETME, or will it handle commercial .308 ammo fine?

2: Does anyone have a picture of a FAL with wood furniture? I'm thinking of buying a wood furniture kit to interchange with what the gun comes with.

3: Where can I obtain a manual for the gun?

4: Are firearms from ohiorapidfire generally of good quality? I've heard mostly good things about them, but read they use some parts from Century Arms, whom I've heard mostly bad things about.

Thanks in advance,
Greg

If you are planning on replacing the included furniture with wood furniture make sure you get either american made furniture or buy 3 other compliance parts (charging handle, gas piston, etc.) to keep it legal. I know that Ohio Rapid Fire includes US made furniture as part of the compliance part set (in addition to the hammer/trigger/sear and the muzzle device). It should work equally as well with surplus or commercial ammo. So far I've only used surplus in my ORF FAL. It had a small barrel timing issue which is currently being fixed (one year warranty). Todd is a great guy to deal with. He answeres all of your questions prompty and paid for shipping both ways.

I bought a fal from ohio rapid fire.it came with an english version of the standard fal manual.the quality is great..everything works and they spent the extra time in doing a great job in the assembly and finishing the carbine.I gave 475 for mine-(he gave me 400 for my sig p226 and 75 bucks)they also included a padded plastic case to store it in.Ive shot it quite a bit and am pleased with the results.it has fed everything ive put in the mag from 7.62mm mil surp ammo to remington soft point ammo in 308 winchester.I too am going to change the buttstock for wood when I get some free money together...Ive heard the wood forearms sometimes crack easily so Im keeping the other one on it.the gas piston looks like a dsa piston..it is slightly oversized..which is good.
