mgregg, he wasn't shooting into the water; he was shooting at a target with a PLYWOOD backstop.

We Thank You All

We thank you all for your support in this unfortunate situation. It is a big help to know that there are people in the community that share in our opinion of this unlikely event. Brandon is extremely greatful for your prayers and wishes as he takes on this delicate surgery and the case that follows. We will keep you all posted.

Thank you!

Aguila Blanca - Yes, Taylor has found himself in a bad situation but as you said, he could do a better job at owning up to it. thank you for your support.

Halffast - Oh we have no hard feelings toward gun owners at all! Just that they need to be responsible in doing so. It seems that day was nothing but unlucky, that's just how it seems to go so far, but he has the scars to prove it. thanks for your support!

Scorpiusdeus - We completely agree with you. Brandon is NOT AT ALL upset with the boy in any way. He was misguided by his father and did not know any better. As gun owners, adults need to show their children the correct way to enjoy the hobby and do so in a sober manner. Thank you very much!

woodybrighton - unfortunately there are alot of those out there. thanks

RPCVYemen - Mike, I hate that your friend has to deal with these irresponsible people also. It is ridiculous, have respect for your fellow neighbors. I'm sure if those hunters were responsible, and asked to hunt on your friend's land, i'm sure there would be no problem. but unfortunately, that's not how people are nowadays. Thank you for your support

dralarms - It's very refreshing that we are not the only ones that think that! Thanks so much for your support

WaltonS - I agree with you, the boy i'm sure has learned a lesson from this. I hope the father does also. No one else needs to go through this. ...A glorified BB gun?? Ha! Brandon definitely disagrees with that one! Anyone that says that has obviously never been shot with one. Thank you for your support!

Cougfan2 - Thank you SO much for your support!

1911Tuner - Thanks for your comment, I COMPLETELY agree with that. And Brandon knows that not everyone is irresponsible like that. He just wishes that people would realize how serious this hobby is. Thank you!

BobbyQuickdraw - Thanks much for your wish on a speedy recovery, we are not allowed to go into too much since we are still awaiting the court date, but we will keep you posted.

Grizzly Adams - I believe that is a great point you have brought up. I feel that the father didn't realize he was hurting his son as much as Brandon by putting him in that awful position. Thanks

siglite - No that doesn't sound uncaring, what you said is very understable. thank you

RoadkingLarry - I would love to have a conversation with you! ha ha. You seem like you like to put it how it is. That's awesome, thanks for your support!

cassandrasdaddy - Either way, the father is an adult and is responsible as you have said, thank you for the support

RKBABob - Thank you much for your support and your comment. We both appreciate it and will keep you posted as things progress.

canopy2k - You are so right, accidents do happen. But this was sooo preventable. Thanks for your comment and support!

If *I* were supreme absolute (benevolent, of course) despot of that county I would arrange for the kid's Dad to be suitably restrained, and the lady's SO to be encouraged to break that rifle over the fellow's head. Hey, it's a small thin rifle, and an obviously thick, dull, head, so it shouldn't be too upsetting to anyone.

I hope

I can make a suggestion. Find a Lawyer, ask around to find the one everyone hates <for his efficiency, not because he doesn't bathe> the one that earned the Bulldog title. Find that Lawyer and sic him on Mr Taylor.

Or a rabid pit bull, whichever.

After firing a few shots, Taylor and the teenager repositioned a plywood target the boy was using to face the water, Wade said.

If this is a true statement, The guy is truly an idiot and deserves to be kicked around by a lawyer.

Christina21:

What has been said was the father didn't want any charges filed against him and after he found out his unsincere appology wasn't going to free him of a suite, he began badmouthing Brandon and is still trying to fight him on paying for his medical expenses.

I join with others here in expressing my most sincere sympathies to Brandon and, of course, to you as well. You seem to be a levelheaded person who recognizes that the problem here (assuming the reports are accurate) is the boy's irresponsible father. He violated every rule of firearm safety (himself and through his son) with the predictable result.

I'm curious. How is the father "badmouthing" Brandon? Irresponsible people often blame the victim. Would you mind sharing how the father is doing that? At this distance I can't see how it could be done with any degree of credibility.
