AZ Andy, Powell has turned into a yuppie bedroom community that tries really hard to not be rural. The subdivisions surround Powder Room, and they honestly haven't spent anything on the place since you were there, I imagine!
I remember when they were in the middle of nowhere.
The range has been shut down for several months due to repairs to the backstop, and refurbishing (Finally) but by now it should be fully operational again.
I used to shoot there, all the time.

My preferred shop to do business with is Peabody Sports, located in Kettering, OH (a southern suburb of Dayton). John, the owner is a great guy to deal with. Honest, competitive pricing, and very knowledgeable. His shop was featured recently on an episode of the FX show "30 Days".

Olde English, north of Dayton is a well known shop around here, a bit pricey it seems but a large inventory.

The Gun Shoppe in Coventry
Used to be The Deer Hunter, alwasy has a good selection of long arms, including mil surp types. Great guys at the shop.

TNT Firearms in Findlay. reasonable transfers, interesting used stuff. High on most ammo, and extremely limited on holsters, though.

evan price: Thanks for the info. I'll definitely check it out on my next Ohio visit-- should be good for some nostalgia, at least.
