OK,

Here's the deal.

I have decided on a 25-06. Mostly shooting on long range yotes and the occasional whitetail. Price is not totally an object, but would like to stay around the $400-600 mark. I prefer stainless, but am not dead set on it. I have looked at the Rem 700 SPS and the Tikka T3 so far. The fluted Sendero they made a few years ago in 25-06 seem great, but these are darn near impossible to find.

What experiences have you had and what is your favorite 25-06 rifle.

Thanks

go to a gun store, find a big book Savage catalog, put one together with the bbl and stokc you want, and you won't regret it! So good.

my favorite yote-whackin' 25-06 is a rem 700 bdl w/ a leupold x2 4-12. my next favorite is a tang-safety ruger w/ an x2 leupold in 3-9. both are accurate, and fun, but the 700 feels better than the ruger.

i've gone thru several different 25-06's, and the 700 bdl and tang-safety ruger are the only ones that are still here.

You might consider the CZ American which although not advertised as such, comes with an adjustable trigger. I've yet to hear any meritous complaints about the CZ rifle line other than their bolts have a little "grittiness" to them when new. Their accuracy is supposed to be great.

Keep hunting for that fluted sendero.

Mine in 25-06 did this at 100 yards and yes, I pulled the high left as a called flyer.

The 700 Fluted Sendero, with a 6.5x20x50AO Leupold VXIII. Great combination!

My .25/06 is a Remington 700 which I have had since the early '70s. If I was buying one now, I would look long and hard at the CZ 550. Have on in 6.5x55, and other than being a tad heavy (not a problem for your applications), it is great. Love the set trigger.
