FC 308 Brass: Inconsistent Should Bumping

I just re-sized some FC brass using the X die. On the initial re-size most of the case heads protruded beyond the top of a Wilson case gauge. The protrusion was not equal across the gauge.
When I adjusted the die for the after trim setting I ran the brass back through the die and they fell within the limit of the gauge.
I think the problem might be a slightly distorted head and rim from being MG fired.
I also ran some SBS with only a few cases needing re-sized a second time. The SBS brass is noticeably harder.

Not sure if this is what is giving you problems but I just thought mention what I found.

So an update. I reran these through a Lee FL sizer using the same shellholder and Lee press. It sized the brass correctly and bumped the shoulders as expected. It seems as if the Redding Body die is a smidge on the long side and the brass I am resizing is not the hitting the top.

Going to give Redding a call tomorrow to see what the can do. I have read on other forums (including a couple threads here) where people had similar issues with their Redding body die.

I am considering trading up on my SS press. It has always been on my radar, but hasn't been a high priority. Priority won't change much, but I will upgrade at some point.

For now the problem is solved and I can move on. I'll deal with Redding tomorrow, but I have a workaround till Redding can address.
